It can automatically record your gameplay in the background or you can only record when you want to. If you have a good gaming PC with NVIDIA graphics then there’s a good chance you have access to this feature, there are many software but this one is best. SHADOWPLAY LOWERS GAMES PERFORMANCE

According to NVIDIA notes that performance penalty of 5% is typical, but it could be 10% in more demanding what game you play, and ofcourse if you play games like GTA 5, MAFIA III, WATCH DOGS 2 or any other high-end games then you can feel the difference in gameplay, but you can lower the game setting little for smooth gameplay. CHECK IF YOUR PC SUPPORTS NVIDIA SHADOWPLAY
Go to NVIDIA’S website there you can find list of NVIDIA graphics hardware that support Shadowplay. If you have NVIDIA graphic card then you can check on your PC if its support for that you will a Application called “GeForce experiences” , using this application you can check your graphic driver updates. One click game optimization, and game streaming from our PC, after installing go to “MY Rig” tab, click on Shadowplay tab and check if your PC meets the system requirements. RECORD OR STREAM GAMEPLAY WITH SHADOWPLAY
After installing Shadowplay will be off and not doing anything, you have to enable it for that you have to launch GeForce Experience application and click on ShadowPlay button on the right corner top of the windows. Then click on the switch in left side of the application, once you turn it on green light will appear and it indicates that NVIDIA ShadowPlay is enabled and its working. After setting up the application it sues its Shadow&Manual. Shadow mode will automatically record your gameplay and keep the last five minutes and when you press Alt+F10 Shadowplay will save a clip of your last 5 minutes recorded gameplay to your default video folder. With manual mode, press Alt+F9 to start recording manually and then again press the combination keys Alt+9 to stop using this method you can record your whole gameplay or till when you want to record. In ShoadowPlay it allows you to view a live FPS counter in any game for that you don’t need to start recording your game for that you have to press Alt+F12. All recording will be saved in specific videos folder by default.
MAIN POINT TO NOTE
ShadowPlay default does not support every game, it only supports games that use Direct3D, and not OpenGL. But most of the games these days use Direct3D but there are few games that uses OpenGL instead of Direct3D like DOOM. For recording these type of game which does not support by default you can record your entire windows desktop so it will record everything you do in your PC. To record OpenGL games that don’t work with ShadowPlay, go to GeForce experience>preferences>ShadowPlay and activate the “Allow Desktop Capture” option. Now you will be able to record your windows desktop, including any OpenGL games running in your desktop, in this mode FPS counter and automatic background don’t work, even in this mode you can use hotkeys to start and stop.
You can configure ShadowPlay according to you, the quality option allows you to configure the quality of your recording by default, its set to high, and it will record in 60fps frames per second as H.264 video, you can always change it to low or medium profiles or choose custom and change the individual setting manually. The audio option allows you to chose which audio tracks to be included you can keep games audio and also your audio which you can record using a Mic for your own voice or speech.
